Star admits he's 'sad' to miss Great British Bake-Off special

Robert Webb has revealed why he won’t be taking part in the Peep Show reunion on The Great British Bake Off.

Fans were disappointed by his absence on the line-up for the Christmas episode, which features David Mitchell, Olivia Colman, Isy Suttie, Matt King and Sophie Winkleman.

Now Webb has told  RadioTimes.com that he couldn’t join them because he was tied up with alternative filming commitments/

The 53-year-old told the website: ‘I do a kids' show called High Hoops, which is about a girls' basketball team for CBBC, and I was in Yorkshire doing that.

‘I was already being very mean about my availability for them, so if I’d asked for another three days off, I think it would have been very unfair.’

But he added: ‘I was sad to miss out, it would have been great [But] I've never baked a thing in my life!

"I quite like cooking, but I’ve never baked much. It wasn’t that that stopped me though, I was working. Some of us have got to work for a living – not like Olivia Colman!"

The Great Celebrity Bake Off – with hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, and judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood – will air on Christmas Day at 7:40pm.
