A host of famous names have been added to the film version of West End hit Frank and Percy.
Sir Ian McKellen and Roger Allam reprise their stage roles as the widowed Frank and the single Percy, who meet while walking their dogs on Hampstead Heath. They start by exchanging small talk, which blossoms into a friendship and then a romance.
Rob Brydon, Felicity Kendal, Peter Davison, Gary Wilmot and Sheila Hancock are among the names added to the cast today. Joining them are Nitin Ganatra, Peter Straker, Amari Bacchus, Hugh Skinner and Wayne Sleep
The film is written by Ben Weatherill, who also wrote the original stage play, which received mixed reviews when it opened in 2023.
Among the best was a four-star write-up in The Times which likened it to what would happen ‘if Alan Bennett were to rewrite Brokeback Mountain’ – but it received only two stars from The Guardian and the Telegraph.
