Only Fools actor Patrick Murray dies at 68

Mickey Pearce actor had a history of ill health

Patrick Murray – who played Mickey Pearce in Only Fools And Horses –  has died at the age of 68.

The Only Fools and Horses Appreciation Society announced the news on Facebook.

They said: 'It is with heartfelt sadness that we report the death of our friend Patrick Murray - Mickey Pearce to so many.

'He was a regular attendee of our conventions and we will miss his humour and the joy he brought to many.’

As well as playing Mickey Pearce in 20 episodes of the classic sitcom, he had roles in Scum, Quadrophenia and  Bergerac .

Murray  had been suffering ill health for years. In 2018, he received treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and in 2021 he revealed he had lung cancer. He was given the all-clear 18 months later, but in April 2023 he revealed it had returned.

He leaves wife Anong, whom he met in Thailand in 2016, and their daughter Josie.

He had previously retired from acting to become a cab driver to fulfil minimum income rules for non-European spouses to bring his family over from Thailand, under a rule introduced by Theresa May when she was Home Secretary
