Most popular British comic on the platform

Jimmy Carr has become the most subscribed UK comedian on YouTube, with more than 1.5 million fans signing up.

It comes 14 months after he picked up his millionth follower, and has been built up through clips of his live work, including interactions with hecklers, as well as TV appearances, and podcasts. New video content is posted daily.

The channel is run by Banijay Rights, the global distribution arm of the entertainment  multinational Banijay Entertainment, with clips chosen by the comedian’s agents at Chambers Management.

Shaun Keeble, its vice-president of digital content, said: ‘To see Jimmy Carr’s channel reach this incredible milestone is thrilling for all of us at Banijay Rights and truly reflects the strength of our partnership with both Jimmy and Chambers Management.

‘With a growing roster of top-tier and emerging comedians, we’re proud to be leading the expansion of comedy entertainment onto YouTube and in the digital space.’

Carr’s current stand-up tour, Laughs Funny, arrives in arenas in December – and he is one of the comedians taking part in the Riyadh Comedy Festival next month, where he is splitting a bill with Louis CK.
