New Charlie Brooker project revealed

A 'profoundly serious' detective thriller

Netflix has announced the new  Charlie Brooker project, a crime thriller  series starring Paddy Considine, Georgina Campbell And Lena Headey.

The four-part show – as yet untitled – is described as a ‘profoundly serious, stunningly original’ project.

However it might not be as serious as it makes out as the writing team includes Ben Caudell, Jason Hazeley, Dan Maier and Joel Morris – the same team that created the police procdedural parody A Touch Of Cloth for Sky  in 2012. They are joined by writer and actor Emer Kenny with additional material by Missing You writer Victoria Asare Archer.

Netflix’s blurb explains that the show revolves around ‘a tormented detective from the Northern city of Bleakford [who] ventures down to London on a mission to catch a ritualistic serial killer before they run out of people to kill. Contains blood and frowning.’

And Brooker said: ‘I’m beyond thrilled to be saying these words for the press release. I’ve dreamt of providing a quote ever since I was a young foetus, and now here I am doing it.

‘I’d pinch myself, but like all of us, I’m terrified that if I do that, I might wake up and discover 2025 has all been a magical dream. Please watch my show. I am begging you.’

The show is now in production but no broadcast date has yet been announced. Long-time Brooker collaborator Al Campbell, who has worked with him since the days of Screenwipe, will direct.
