
Filming starts on Ted Lasso series 4
First look at the new season, based around AFC Richmond's women's team
Here’s the first picture from the set of Ted Lasso’s fourth season, as Apple TV+ confirmed that production is officially under way .
Principal photography begins today in Kansas City, star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis’s hometown, with additional filming set to take place in London later.
He’s pictured with Jeremy Swift, who plays director of football operations. Leslie Higgins, Hannah Waddingham as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton and Juno Temple as marketing executive Keeley Jones.
Also reprising their roles are Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, who became manager at the end of the last season, and Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard. No mention is made of any other retiring cast members in Apple’s announcement.
Season three ended with Ted returning home to Wichita, Kansas, to coach his son's soccer team.
Apple’s description of the new series explains that he returns to Richmond to coach a second-division women’s team adding: ‘Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.’
Joining the cast are Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely, who is stepping in as Ted’s son, Henry, a role previously played by Gus Turner.
Ted Lasso season four adds Emmy Award winner Jack Burditt – whose credits include Nobody Wants This, Modern Family and 30 Rock – as an executive producer.
Goldstein is also one of the executive producers and serves as writer alongside Sarah Walker, Phoebe Walsh (who also played Jane Payne in the series) and Julia Lindon with Dylan Marron as story editor.
