Jayde Adam to make her theatrical acting debut

Comedian to star in Treasure Island in Bristol

Jayde Adams is to make her professional stage acting debut this Christmas.

The comic will appear in Treasure Island at the Old Vic in her Bristol hometown. She was  a member of the theatre’s young company as a child

Adams said today: ‘After years of banging on their doors, Bristol Old Vic have finally let me on stage – and I couldn’t be prouder that my debut is happening at a theatre I’ve loved my whole life.

‘I’ve been staring at that building since I could walk, and now I get to perform in it this Christmas.

‘Stand-up always felt like a stepping stone to my real goal: acting on stage. And now I’m in Treasure Island – give me a parrot and a pirate ship too? All my Christmases have come at once!’

Adams will play Benita Gunn and Jim Hawkins’ mother in the new musical adaptation

She has already starred in the ITV2 sitcom Ruby Speaking and had a major role in Sophie Willan’s Alma's Not Normal – and she appeared in Strictly Come Dancing in 2002.

Treasure Island runs from December 4 to January 10. Further casting will be announced later this summer.
