Whoopi Goldberg to perform in the UK
...for the first time in more than eight years
Whoopi Goldberg is to perform live in the UK for the first time in almost a decade.
The comic and movie star will be playing the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, West London, on September 4 and Cardiff’s Utilita Arena the following night.
She said: ‘I’ve always loved performing for UK audiences. I can’t wait to take the stage at these two incredible venues and share some stories, some laughs, and maybe even a little truth."
The shows will feature the A-lister reflecting on her career with ‘razor-sharp candour’ and feature an audience Q&A segment. The star of The Colour Purple, Ghost and Sister Act, Goldberg is one of the few entertainers to have achieved EGOT status, with an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award to her name.
She last appeared on a British stage in 2017 – when she played the London Palladium – performing stand-up in the UK for the first time. She had been due to perform in the stage version of Sister Act in 2021, but had to drop out when it was postponed until the following year because of Covid.
Tickets for September’s shows go on sale on Friday.
