Taskmaster up for a Rose D’Or

As are The Skewer, Rob & Romesh Vs and We Are Lady Parts, among others

Taskmaster, The Skewer and Rob & Romesh Vs are among the nominees in this year’s prestigious Rose D’Or international TV awards.

They have all been shortlisted in the comedy entertainment category, alongside Germany’s Die Carolin Kekebus Show, Norway’s Dumbest and Australian improv format Thank God You’re Here.

Normally a Radio 4 show, Jon Holmes’s mash-up show The Skewer has been nominated for the one-off video version, Three Twisted Years, which aired last October; while Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan’s Sky show is specifically acknowledged for the episode set at the Monaco grand prix.

Meanwhile, Channel 4’s We Are Lady Parts is up for the comedy drama or sitcom award.

Also in the running is Charlie Covell’s Netflix series Kaos – which the streamer has just controversially cancelled after just one series – and  Guy Ritchie’s action comedy series The Gentlemen.

They face competition from Norway’s  Dates In Real Life and What Happened to Solveig, and the Australian series

Population 11.

And Richard Gadd’s Baby Reindeer is up for best drama opposite ITV’s Mr Bates v The Post Office, the BBC’s The Sixth Commandment,  After the Party from New Zealand, Pachinko from Korea,  and The Sympathizer from Thailand.

The awards are organised by the European Broadcasting Union. Deputy director general Jean Philip De Tender said: ’It’s always such a joy for the judges to see so much creativity in the international television industry – which makes it even tougher to narrow down hundreds of entries to just a handful of finalists in each category.’

And Mark Rowland, chair of the Rose d’Or Awards, added ‘This year we’ve had over 700 entries from over 30 countries, with the competition hotter than ever. The judges have had an incredibly strong selection of shows to choose from. Thank you to everyone who entered – and good luck to our amazing finalists.’

The winners will be announced on December 2 at King’s Place in London.
