Mugwuffin skits available to subscribers only

Dom Joly has launched a subscription comedy channel building on the ideas of Trigger Happy TV.

Mugwuffin will feature weekly episodes of hidden-camera skits for subscribers paying £4 a month.

Characters include the Crypto King of Dubai, GNEB the Good News Energy Bear, Biohacker, Goth Poet and Bowie Bore.

There is also an updated version of Joly’s famous giant mobile phone character, with a massive smartphone.

The comic created the series with his long-term collaborator Sam Cadman, co-creator and director the original Channel 4 series.

Joly said of the subscription model: ‘This straight-to-consumer relationship feels very ‘now" and allows fans to interact with us directly. We want to build an engaged community who have a big say in the way the shows develop.’

The project is a partnership with digital agency The Gold Studio, whose boss Eddie Gold said: ‘We’re entering an age of entertainment liberation. An age where brilliant people can take great ideas make them bigger, better and more ambitious, without gatekeepers or layers watering them down along the way. Dom and Sam are leading this new world … Everyone wins.’

The first episodes are available to watch now to subscribers via the Mugwuffin website, while Joly and Cadman have released a video teasing the show:
