Playing Danny Driscoll in Only Fools and Horses The Musical

Vinnie Jones is to make his stage acting debut – playing Danny Driscoll in Only Fools and Horses The Musical.

The footballer turned screen star will take the role of the local crime lord Danny Driscoll – one half of the notorious Driscoll Brothers – when the touring musical runs at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo in London from December 17 to  January 5. 

He said: ‘I’ve always been a fan of Only Fools and Horses, and when my longtime friend Phil McIntyre [the tour’s promoter] called me up and said he was interested in me playing the role of Danny Driscoll, I told him to count me in. 

‘The director C. Jay Ranger and her creative team are great and I’m excited to contribute to the legacy of the show.’

Jones will take the role for 28 days, starring alongside Paul Whitehouse, who plays grandad

Following its West End run, the show starts its tour  at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley  tonight.

Whitehouse also wrote the script with Jim Sullivan, son of the sitcom's creator, John, while musical contributions come from Chas n Dave. 

The cast also features comedy Sam Lupton (Del Boy), Tom Major (Rodney), Georgina Hagen (Raquel), Craig Berry (Boycie)
