BBC to air animated video game store comedy

Featuring Jamie Demetriou, Emily Atack and Baby Reindeer’s Jessica Gunning

Jamie Demetriou, Emily Atack and Baby Reindeer’s Jessica Gunning have provided the voices for a new animated short set in a video games shop.

Dave’s Games is to air on BBC three later this month as part of its Comedy Short Films strand.

Jon-Lee Martin wrote the show, and plays the titular owner of the store, which is piled high with plastic game cartridges, many of which are old even for 1995 when the film is set.

But his mini-empire is threatened by the gigantic, shiny, futuristic rival shop Turbo Gamez opening just down the road… and the release of the first ever PlayStation.

Dave's Games started life as a YouTube series and was screened at the BBC Comedy Festival in Cardiff last year. It will now air on BBC Three and iPlayer from 9.50pm on May 27.

Here’s a trailer for the original web series:

The voice cast also includes Sarah Twomey and  Marc Pickering
