History of Amsterdam's English-language comedy club

Amsterdam’s English language comedy club Boom Chicago is to be the subject of a feature-length documentary.

The venue is home to an improv troupe whose previous members include Seth Meyers, Jordan Peele and Ted Lasso creators Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly.

It was set up by US stand-up comedians Andrew Moskos and Pep Rosenfeld in 1993 and they were quickly joined by Dutch colleague, Saskia Maas, who all still own the club.

The documentary will feature interviews with alumni, archive footage and a look at the inner workings of the club, according to Screen Daily, which broke the news of the project.

Based on last year’s book Boom Chicago Presents the 30 Most Important Years in Dutch History, the film will be directed by Dutch filmmakers Sanne Kortooms and Marte Visser and will be produced in association with Boom Chicago itself.
