Frankie Boyle writes A Short History Of The Apocalypse
'One of the most misguided Christmas book launches of all time’
Frankie Boyle has written a book about a dystopian future, entitled A Short History of the Apocalypse.
Out in November, the book was co-written with Charlie Skelton, who works on Have I Got News For You and Would I Lie To You? and features illustrations from comic book artist Frank Quitely.
The title imagines a ‘grotesque and bizzarro’ future where society has collapsed and it is everyone for themselves, ‘well, maybe not so bizarre then,’ adds the blurb.
It covers subjects from gangs and government to bunkers and cannibalism, as told by Alonso Lamp, a traveller in time, who has returned from the late 21st Century to shae his hard-earned wisdom and survival tips.
Publishers John Murray say the book ‘is full of dark humour and the macabre’.

In 2022, the comic wrote Meantime, a comic crime novel set in the aftermath of the 2014 Scottish Independence referendum. He also published his memoirs My Shit Life So Far in 2009.
Skelton and Victoria Coren once tried to make an X-rated film, an enedavour they chronicled in the book Once More, with Feeling: How We Tried to Make the Greatest Porn Film Ever.
