The Horne Section write a kids' guide to music
Book for 8-12-year-olds out this summer
Alex Horne has written a kids’ guide to music, with the rest of his Horne Section band.
Make Some Noise – subtitled ‘the mind-blowing guide to all things music by the world’s funniest band’ – will be published by Puffin in July.
Aimed at eight- to 12-year-olds, it promises the answers to all-important questions, such as: Why is cabbage the key to musical genius? Which is the fartiest of all the instruments? and which song has the funniest lyrics of all time?
And true to form, Taskmaster creator Horne has added some special challenges throughout the book to help readers create music at home.
The title was one of six non-fiction children's books announced by the publisher today. Puffin’s publishing director Ruth Knowles said: ‘We are passionate about strategically growing our list for curious minds and offering the perfect blend of education and entertainment.’
Horne previously wrote the adult titles Birdwatchingwatching in 2009 and Wordwatching the following year, as well as a Taskmaster tie-in book in 2022.
As well as its leader, Horne Section comprises Joe Auckland (trumpet and banjo), Mark Brown (saxophone and guitar), Will Collier (bass), Ben Reynolds (drums and percussion) and Ed Sheldrake (keyboards).
Make Some Noise will also feature illustrations from Rob Flowers.
