Four traineeships offered in his new Channel 4 show

Joe Lycett is offering four Birmingham locals the chance to get their first job in TV, working on his new live Friday-night  Channel 4 show.

The comic and programme-makers Rumpus Media will offer paid production trainee roles to people keen to break into the industry – even if they have got no previous experience.

Lycett said: ‘If you hadn’t heard already, I am a VERY proud Brummie and passionate about nurturing talent here, so I’m very happy we’ve been able to make these roles on our exciting new show to give opportunities to people in the West Midlands.’

The roles will be in the editorial, production, technical and art departments and the trainees will have their own mentor as well as access to network events and training resources. Applications are open to anyone over  18 who lives in Birmingham.

Running for five weeks, the show will be broadcast from the city’s canals and will see the comedian is joined by ‘a mix of local legends and LGBTQ+ heroes and allies’, alongside celebrities from the worlds of comedy, television, music and film.

Emily Hudd, joint managing director at Rumpus Media said: The Joe Lycett Live Show is a show with Birmingham at its heart and we’re so excited that we will be joined by four trainees from the local area who will help us represent the city and all of the talent within it.’

Sindy Campbell, head of Film Birmingham, which is also backing the scheme, added: ‘Birmingham is fast becoming a thriving production city for TV and film, with lots of individuals keen to break into the industry. It’s fantastic that The Joe Lycett Live Show’is offering locals the opportunity to have a hands-on experience in a competitive industry. We cannot wait to welcome to the four trainees and support them as they take their first steps into the world of TV production.’
