Am I Being Unreasonable? lands a second series

Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli's comedy-thriller to return

Daisy May Cooper’s comedy thriller Am I Being Unreasonable? is to return for a second series.

The news comes as the first season of the show she created with her friend and co-star Selin Hizli ended on BBC One tonight.

In a statement, the pair said: 'When we first started writing this show we never dreamed it would get commissioned, let alone get another series.

'We’re so grateful to everyone who has watched it and we promise we will work our hardest to make the second series even better than the first…It’s gonna hit you with all the grace and decorum of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on.'

Taking its title from the Mumsnet message boards, the series began last month with 2.2million overnight viewers for the first episode. Its launch had been delayed for a month because of the Queen’s death.

Jon Petrie, director of BBC Comedy thanked the creators for making 'such a funny, thrilling, genre-bending show', adding: 'We had so many questions after binging the first series that we were selfishly desperate to have more Am I Being Unreasonable?  in our lives. Luckily, we know that our viewers feel the same way.'

And Pippa Brown, creative director for programme-makers Lookout Point said: 'What a privilege to be able to work with Daisy and Selin and the hugely talented team on Am I Being Unreasonable? again.

' It’s a giddy mix of joy and fear knowing where their comedically genius and genuinely terrifying brains will take  the cast for a second series.  We’re all very proud and happy to get going, thank you BBC.'

Am I Being Unreasonable?  also stars Dustin Demri-Burns as Dan, the husband of Cooper’s character Nic, and breakout star Lenny Rush as their son, Ollie.

No details of when the next series might air have been revealed.
