Character comedian Lorna Rose Treen wins two Funny Women awards
Character comedian Lorna Rose Treen was a double winner at the Funny Women awards last night.
The Birmingham-based comic beat nine other acts who performed at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre to triumph in the stage awards – in the alter-ego of an odd femme fatale.
And Treen – a former member of Edinburgh university improv troupe The Improverts – also won the comedy shorts award for a film in which she played a girl guide, recording a video to try to win a second entertainment badge.
Shetlands comedian Marjolein Robertson came second in the stage awards, and Bristolian Jessie Nixon came third.

TikToker Chan Wills – who is best known for Harry Potter parodies – won the content creator award, as voted for by the public.
Podcaster, comic and producer Amy Annette won the industry award:
Thank god I wore my best clown shoes. Thanks to @50Comedy50 for running this award too- what an honour to stand in front of a huge picture of my face (my eyebrows could be better but we move) https://t.co/vESZxb5rRJ
