Now Brett Goldstein's up for a Screen Actors Guild award

More acclaim for Ted Lasso role

Brett Goldstein has been nominated for a Screen Actors’ Guild Award in the US for his role in Ted Lasso.

The stand-up – also a writer on the Apple TV+ football comedy – is up for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Roy Kent.

Also nominated is his co-star  Jason Sudeikis  alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short for Only Murders In The Building and Michale Douglas for The Kominsky Method.

In the running for the female category are Elle Fanning  for The Great, Sandra Oh for The Chair, Jean Smart fpr Hacks and Juno Temple  and Hannah Waddingham, also for Ted Lasso.

Ted Lasso is also up for the best ensemble cast in a comedy alongside Only Murders In The Building, The Kominsky Method, Hack and The Great.

Goldstein won a supporting actor Emmy for his Roy Kent role last year and was also nominated in last weekend’s Golden Globe awards, but lost out to O Yeong-su from Squid Game.

The SAG awards ceremony  takes place on February 27  in Santa Monica.
