New spoof The Love Box In Your Living Room

 Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse are to make a mockumentary based on 100 years of BBC output.

 The Love Box In Your Living Room follows the success of the Story Of The Two's, which they made to mark 50 years of BBC Two in 2014.

According to the Corporation, the new show will mix contemporary footage with ‘genuinely authentic made-up stuff’.

It will be presented by the characters of  Adam Adamant Curtis and his brother Richard Dimbleby Curtis and  ‘charts the intertwined socio-litical history of the British and their BBC since its quasi-religious birth on that great day in 1922’.

Executive producer Bryan Elsley said: 'This is a great challenge, there’s a cornucopia of material to draw upon. With Harry and Paul, you light the fuse and see what happens. Should be great fun.'

And producer Bradley Adams added: 'We look forward to taking up from where The Story of The Two’s left off.'

The commission was announced today as part of a raft of programming to mark the BBC’s centenary – at a time when the broadcaster’s future seems under threat from a hostile government.

Other shows will include a Horrible Histories special entitled BBC’s Big Birthday Bonanza! featuring sketches about how radio announcer Wilfred Pickles confounded Britain’s enemies with his Yorkshire accent, and how the creators of Doctor Who thought they were making a history programme.

Charlotte Moore, the BBC’s chief content officer said: ‘Our centenary year will be a huge treat for audiences of all ages from massive sporting events, comedy, entertainment, drama, arts and music, to documentaries assessing all aspects of the BBC’s history.

‘BBC 100 will celebrate and reflect on the unique role the BBC plays in the lives of audiences across the UK as our much cherished national broadcaster from its creation right up to the present day.’
