James Acaster to release extra episodes of his BBC podcast

Christmas Day specials

James Acaster has recorded two more episodes of his BBC podcast Perfect Sounds to be released Christmas Day.

The episodes both revolve around Worry, the punk album released by Jeff Rosenstock in 2016 – the year the comedian believes was the best in musical history.

Fellow stand-up Mae Martin guests in the first episode to talk about the album, Acaster is joined by Matthew Crosby and Rosentstock himself about the album.

Acaster named his book about the music of 2016 – which spawned this podcast – after the track Perfect Sound Whatever, which is on this album.

The BBC has also announced that comics Alison Spittle and Fern Brady will be making two Christmas episodes of their Wheel of Misfortune podcast.

They will be sharing party stories with David O’Doherty on December 8 and Romesh Ranganathan on December 15.

  • Matt Lucas and Joe Lycett are to host Radio 2 shows over the Christmas period. Lycett will take the 5-7pm slot from December 28 to January 1, and again on January 4. Lucas will be on from 10am to 1pm on Boxing Day.
  • And Sarah Millican is to curating a selection of archive programmes that fill her with ‘warmth, wonder and merriment’ for Radio 4 Extra over the festive period
