The world's first chat show on a chemo ward

Dara O Briain is the first guest on Sarah Mills's new YouTube show

Comedian and TV producer Sarah Mills has launched the world's first chat show set in a chemotherapy ward.

Dara O Briain was her first guest, keeping her company during the treatment at University Hospital London,  and they got to talking about the practicalities of using an agricultural  ultrasound machine as a dinner-party entertainment.

Mills said: 'After I was diagnosed with bowel cancer, my world was turned-upside down.  But surgeons were able to remove the tumour entirely, and gave me six months of chemotherapy to give me the best chance the cancer wouldn’t return.

'So decided to host a chat show on the ward because chemo is very boring.

'There's something about being in that setting, a healthcare setting were everyone around you is on a drip, but somehow it's surrounded by hope and good will and good nature it brings out the best in people, weirdly.

'The guests that I had come along were just so honest and open and told be things I don't think they would tell me in other circumstances.'

Mills - who has previously worked as a producer on TV shows including Charlie Brooker's Election Wipe,  Unspun With Matt Forde and Jon Richardson: Ultimate Worrier - is now in remission, although it will take five years to get the all-clear.

Other guests include Harriet Kemsley, Phil Wang, Sikisa, Rob Rinder and Eshaan Akbar.
