It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia to break records
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia has been renewed for a 15th series, making it the longest-running live-action comedy series ever screened in the US.
The FX network revealed that the show – which stars Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson, and Danny DeVito – would be returning as it unveiled its 2021 programming slate.
It’s Always Sunny will be beating the record it currently holds with The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, which ran for 14 seasons between 1952 and 1966. However, it is a long way behind on the number of episodes, with a current tally of 154 instalments compared to the older show’s 435.
An air date for the new season has not yet been confirmed.

Among other programmes unveiled by FX was Hysterical, a feature-length documentary examining the changing landscape for women in stand-up, directed by Andrea Nevins
According to producers: ‘For decades female stand-up comedians have struggled against biases both conscious and unconscious, but now an interesting narrative is emerging as women are more daringly using the medium to express their points of view on their experiences and the culture at large.‘
The network also confirmed that the Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard comedy Breeders, which airs on Sky One in the UK, would be returning for a second season - as exclusively revealed by Chortle in March.
FX also confirmed the return of comedies Archer, Atlanta, Dave, Better Things and the half-hour short-form comedy showcase Cake, as well as the fourth series of Fargo with Chris Rock joining Jason Schwartzman, Jessie Buckley, Ben Whishaw and Timothy Olyphant in the cast:
