Fleabag star triumphs at Screen Actors’ Guild awards

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has yet another accolade for her mantelpiece after scooping the Screen Actors’ Guild award for best actress in a comedy last night.

Her award for Fleabag was awarded by her peers at the ceremony, where Robert De Niro received a lifetime achievement honour.

Although she would be forgiven for becoming blasé about all her awards, she expressed disbelief about receiving this latest trophy.

‘At some point, it will all hit me and I will have a good old cry about it,’ she said as she collected the prize.

‘Tonight as a Fleabag gang we will soak this up ... in a room I never imagined I would be in.

‘This whole thing really has been a dream and if I wake up tomorrow and discover it has been just that then thank you, it has been the most beautiful dream."

Tony Shalhoub won the award for best actor in a comedy for his role in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, while the whole cast shared the comedy ensemble prize.

Other winners on the night included  Joaquin Phoenix, for Joker; Brad Pitt for Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood and his ex, Jennifer Aniston, for The Morning Show.
