'To concentrate on his comedy career'

Matt Richardson is leaving Virgin Radio to focus on his comedy career.

The stand-up – who has been hosting the 4pm to 7pm drive-time slot for the past three years – will be replaced by Kate Lawler, who currently hosts the afternoon slot.

Richardson said: ‘It’s been an absolute blast, but comedy is and always has been my first love, and the Siren song of Edinburgh was just too strong.’

His Fringe show, Imposter, starts at Just The Tonic at the from tomorrow.

Richardson previously co-hosted The Xtra Factor on ITV2 alongside Caroline Flack in 2013, and has appeared on panel shows including Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Celebrity Juice.
