The best of the week's live comedy

The week's best live comedy.

Monday March 11

LONDON: One of three shows Adam Riches presented at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe - and vying with best newcomer Ciaran Dowd for the silliest show about a swashbuckling swordsman - The Lone Dueller lands at Soho Theatre for the week. Riches is joined on his noble quest by Stevie Martin, Daniel Cook  and Ben Target. Plus tonight and tomorrow you could double this 7.15pm show with  Alison Thea-Skot’s similarly mad character work at 9pm.

LINCOLN: The Chortle Student Comedy Award enters its last leg, with a heat at the Engine Shed tonight, followed by another at Goldsmiths College in South London on Thursday.

Wednesday March 13

HORSHAM: Julian Clary is mincing around the UK again, sharing his peccadillos with like-minded (and indeed filthy-minded) audience, starting in Sussex tonight. Click here for all the dates.

Thursday March 14

GLASGOW: The city’s comedy festival kicks off today, with more than 500 shows during its 18-day run. Opening night highlights include Larry Dean’s Bampot at the Kings Theatre, Ed Gamble’s Blizzard at the Stand and Rich Hall’s Hoedown at the Garage.

LONDON: A new monthly night at the relatively new EartH venue (which stands for Evolutionary Arts Hackey) boasts a very strong line-up indeed:  Desiree Burch, John Kearns, Milton Jones, Phil Wang and John Robins.

Friday March 15

LONDON: The people of Hackney are definitely spoiled for comedy this week, as following last night’s great gig comes another at the Empire. John Robins is on the bill again; alongside Bridget Christie, Nina Conti, Rhys James and Catastrophe’s Rob Delaney

GLASGOW: Our festival tips for tonight are Sean McLoughlin at the Hug and Pint (where he’s in a double bill with a John Kearns work in progress), Alfie Brown at Blackfriars Basement, and Mark Nelson at The Stand.
