Want your own Margaret Thatcher puppet?
Spitting Image caricatures go under the hammer
Spitting Image puppets of Margaret Thatcher, Nigel Lawson and Tom Hanks are among 40 latex caricatures going under the hammer this month.
The likeness of the former Prime Minister has an estimate of £2,000 to £3,000, but the head of actress Tatum O’Neal, which is also in the auction, has a range of just one-tenth of those figures.
Also being sold memorabilia specialists Prop Store are puppets of Salman Rushdie, Robbie Coltrane and Alan Bennett – all pictured below and all with an estimate of £400-£600.
The auction starts here on February 14 and runs to February 27.
Prop Store chief executive Stephen Lane, CEO, said: ‘We’re thrilled to offering such a fantastic selection of puppets from the legendary n series.
Spitting Image spanned 18 series on ITV from 1984 to 1996.
Last year, another puppet of Margaret Thatcher found a home alongside the works of Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin and other treasures at Cambridge University Library, after it was donated by the series’ co-creator, Roger Law.
