Pete Davidson's early life to become a movie

Directed by Judd Apatow

Judd Apatow is set to start shooting a new movie based on the life of Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson.

The film – as yet untitled – will be based on Davidson’s early years growing up on Staten Island.

When Davidson was seven years old, his firefighter father died during the September 11 attack – a subject he has tackled in his stand-up before.

He co-wrote the film with Apatow and another stand-up, Dave Sirus.

The director wrote on Twitter: ‘Pete and Dave and I have been working on getting a screenplay right almost since Trainwreck. We are finally ready to shoot this summer. It’s been many years in the making.’

Last month, Davidson sparked fears about his mental health following an emotive Instagram post after his very public  break-up from fianceé Ariana Grande. But he made a return to Saturday Night Live earlier this month.
