Steve Carell to front the Space Force for Netflix

Comedy about setting up Donald Trump's dream

Steve Carell is to star in a new Netflix comedy series about the people setting up America’s Space Force.

He co-created the workplace comedy with Greg Daniels, who developed the US version of The Office which made Carell a star.

Daniels will be the showrunner, with both credited as executive producers.

Netflix released a teaser today,  linked to President Donald Trump’s surprise announcement last year that he wanted to form a ‘sixth branch of the armed forces… to defend satellites from attack and perform other space-related tasks’

The  video then explains that the show will be about ‘the men and women who have to figure it out’.

Other details – beyond the fact that it is ‘coming soon’ – have not been revealed.

The announcement came on the same day Netflix announced a price rise for US customers, but not for UK subscribers.
