Little Britain pair 'bury the hatchet for Comic Relief sketches'

David  Walliams and Matt Lucas are reportedly reuniting to create new sketches for next year's Comic Relief.

The Little Britain duo drifted apart following their 2010 mockumentary Come Fly With Me, with Walliams becoming a bestselling children's author and Britain's Got Talent judge, and Lucas pursuing pet comedy projects such as Pompidou.

But there have long been reports of a rift, stemming from their 2005 Little Britain Live tour when they are said to have had a major bust-up backstage one night. 

In 2012, Walliams said: 'We’re very different people and probably want different things  and had different working methods.  It’s over for the time being.'

While last year Lucas took a pot-shot at his former colleague, saying: ‘Throughout our relationship, David and I would often be at loggerheads during rehearsals and shooting. Walliams has now sold so many children’s books he can probably buy his own private jet, all decked out in pink, with a river inside it for him to swim up.’ 

Now The Mail on Sunday reports that the pair are back together again, with an unnamed source saying: 'They’ve made up, which is amazing and what’s even better is that they are in serious discussions to work together next year.'

The paper suggests that Little Britain would 'not be politically correct enough for today’s TV audience' so the pair may revive Come Fly With Me instead, perhaps ignoring the controversy over Walliams and  Lucas blacking, browning and yellowing up to play various characters in the airport-based comedy.

Relations between the pair may have thawed after they met again at Dale Winton’s funeral in May. 

Last month, Walliams old Chris Evans on his Radio 2 show that  it would be 'fun' to reunite with his co-star, saying: ‘I would like to return to it. I would like to do a live show again, I think that would be fun.’

They will also both voice characters in next year’s stop-motion animated film Missing Link, although they recorded their parts separately.
