Seann Walsh has undergone a remarkable turnaround in his Strictly Come Dancing fortunes.

The comic and his dance partner Katya Jones scored 30 points from judges for their Matrix-themed paso doble on tonight's Movie Night show.

It ranked them fifth in the leaderboard, after two weeks in the bottom three.

However, it has been their off-screen antics that have made the headlines, with photographs of the comedian kissing marred Katya making the front page of The Sun on Sunday.

Walsh, who is dating fellow comic Rebecca Humphries, later tweeted: 'In light of the story in today's newspaper I would like to offer my sincere apologies for my actions. This is no excuse but it was a one-off drunken mistake which I am truly sorry for.'

On the show, Bruno Tolioni gushed that their dance was 'sci-fi paso extravaganza, so clever and original, you recreated those images from the film and never lost the power and intensity'

Hard-to-please Craig Revel Horwood said the dance was 'profound, powerful, impassioned, darling, masculine and I might even go as far as hot'.

Darcey Bussell said: 'I couldn't take my eyes off you', despite thinking the comic was 'wooden in the legs'.

And Shirley Ballas told him: 'You weren't messing about, nailed it and you're a dark horse.'

Red Dwarf's Danny John-Jules ended up seventh in the leaderboard, earning 28 points for his paso doble to The Greatest Show from The Greatest Showman with professional partner Amy Dowden.
