On a new movie about cryogenics

Sharon Horgan is to direct her first feature film.

She has signed up to helm the big-screen version of The New World, a novel by Chris Adrian and Eli Horowitz, Hollywood website Deadline reports.

The book is about a woman whose husband dies, but when she arrives at the hospital, she is horrified to find that his head has been removed from his body, as he has secretly enrolled with a shadowy cryogenics company called Polaris.

Horgan previously directed the short The Week Before Christmas for Sky One.

Yesterday it was reported that she is set to write and star in a new comedy for Amazon, playing a socially awkward, broke, single woman who launches a self-help company and recruits a handsome former male gymnast – Game Night’s Billy Magnussen – to be its face. The screening giant has ordered a script for the planned new show, which is still untitled.
