Streaming giant orders a script for a show she would star in

Sharon Horgan is set to write and star in a new comedy for Amazon.

The streaming giant has ordered a script for the untitled show, with the agreement it would go straight to series if the script is approved, without needing to go to pilot first.

Horgan would play a socially awkward, broke, single woman who launches a self-help company and recruits a handsome former male gymnast – Game Night’s Billy Magnussen – to be its face.

According to Hollywood website Deadline, she is penning the script with Zoolander and Meet The Parents screenwriter  John Hamburg and his frequent collaborator Ian Helfer.

The show stems from the overall deal Horgan and her production company Merman signed with Amazon Studios earlier this year.

Amazon already streams Catastrophe, which she created with Rob Delaney, originally for Channel 4.
