Joel & Nish Vs The World, round two

Second series for their challenging travelogue

Joel & Nish Vs The World is returning for a second series on Comedy Central, Chortle can reveal.

The first run of the travelogue, which aired last year, followed Joel Dommett as he pitted himself against some of the fittest people on Earth, while Nish Kumar provided commentary.

But the six further episodes will find Kumar becoming more involved and taking on the challenges with his friend to find out which of them  is the toughest.

Dommett wrestled with Mongolian nomads, practised kung-fu with Shaolin monks and ran an ultra-marathon against the Tarahumara tribe of Mexico in the original series. But details of their next destinations and challenges have yet to be revealed.

Dommett said: 'I cannot believe we've managed to renew our travel insurance to do another series of Joel and Nish vs the world. I can't wait to head to some of the most incredible corners of the globe, get diarrhoea at least three times and be pushed to my limits while my best friend laughs at me. Bring it on!'

Kumar added: 'I can’t wait for Joel and me to make complete fools of ourselves in some of the most incredible places on earth. Truly we are dreadful ambassadors for this country."

BBC Worldwide also broadcasts the show internationally under the name Tribal Bootcamp.

Series one attracted a peak audience of 110,000 viewers, up 43 per cent on the slot average, with the Guardian describing it as 'a thinly veiled excuse to show buff comedian Joel Dommett with his top off'.

Louise Holmes, Comedy Central UK's general manager, said: 'This time around, we’re pushing them even further out of their comfortable metro lifestyles into the wildest, most challenging places the crew can find. Our audience should prepare for a whole lot more laughter as we test their friendship - and sense of humour – to the limits.’

Emily Hudd, joint managing director of programme-makers Rumpus Media added: 'Joel and Nish aren’t done with taking on the world yet, despite them knowing the odds are probably against them.'

Kumar, who is currently hosting The Mash Report on BBC Two, and Dommett, who publishes his first book, It's Not Me, It's Them on February 8, have also piloted a topical show for Comedy Central called Comedians Solve World Problems, in which they discuss global problems with celebrity guests.
