Comic lands role in new Sky driving thriller

Man Like Mobeen star Guz Khan has landed a role in Sky One’s new Fast-And-The-Furious-style drama.

The comic will be joining Adrian Lester, Phoebe Fox and Malachi Kirby in the street race thriller Curfew.

It is the first time Khan has appeared in a non-comedy show, save for a brief appearance in BBC One daytime drama Doctors in 2016. He has also appeared in Channel 5’s Borderline and Dave’s Zapped.

It has not been revealed what Khan’s role will be in the eight-part series, which will launch next year. However, the show revolves around desperate drivers racing through the night from London to northernmost Scotland in pimped-out, weaponised vehicles to win the ultimate prize — freedom from the totalitarian government curfew that controls their lives.

Also in the cast are Robert Glenister, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rose Williams and Elijah Rowen.

Sky’s head of drama Anne Mensah said: ‘When Sky does dramas about car races, we do them like no other broadcaster. Funny, emotionally truthful, visceral and above all fast – Curfew is the perfect Sky One show.

‘[Writer and executive producer[ Matthew Read has created fantastically memorable, sometimes shocking, always fascinating characters. You’ll want every single one of them to win the race of their lives.’
