Stewart Lee and Fleabag lead Chortle Awards

Stewart Lee and Fleabag lead this year's Chortle Award shortlists, with three nominations apiece.

Fleabag has been nominated for best TV comedy, while its creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge and co-star Olivia Colman are both shortlisted in the best TV actor category.

Lee's stand-up show Comedy Vehicle, which has now been dropped by BBC Two, was nominated for best TV comedy entertainment programme, and Lee himself for best TV comic. Meanwhile his stage show, Content Provider, is up for best live show.

In that category he is up against his wife, Bridget Christie, and her anti-Brexit show Because You Demanded It.

Nominated in two categories are:
• Alan Partridge (best TV comedy for Sky Atlantic's Scissored Isle and the book award for Nomad)
Romesh Ranganathan (best TV comedian and best tour);
• BBC Two's Mum (best TV comedy and best actor for star Leslie Manville);
Greg Davies (best TV comedian and best TV comedy entertainment show for Taskmaster);
• Deborah Francis White (best radio show and internet award)

Now in their 17th year, the Chortle Awards are the UK's leading comedy accolades, since the British Comedy Awards left TV screens.

The shortlists are chosen by a panel of industry comedy experts, and are now voted on by fans here by February 24. Winners will be announced next month.
