Second series and Halloween special

Radio 4 has picked up The Casebook of Max And Ivan for a second series – plus a Halloween special.

Max Olesker and Ivan Gonzalez are to return with four more half-hour episodes their crime caper sitcom next year.

And in the meantime, they have a one-off  that will air on October 27, in which they get ‘mixed up in a sinister underworld of murder, human sacrifice, and sand’ on a remote island. The show also features Jessica Ransom, Lewis MacLeod and David Reed

Series one, which aired last year, attracted comedy A-listers June Whitfield, Matt Lucas, Jessica Hynes and Reece Shearsmith as guest stars.

The new series and special have been commissioned from production house  Retort by Radio 4 comedy commissioning editor Sioned Wiliam. They will be produced by Ben Walker. The show was initially developed by Matt Lucas’s company, John Stanley Productions who also produced the first series in 2015.

Max and Ivan have been nominated for  the Edinburgh comedy award and as actors their TV appearances  include Pompidou, 

Badults, Blandings and W1A, where they played useless digital strategists Ben and Jerry.

The Halloween special will be recorded  in front of a studio audience in London on Thursday October 20. Free tickets are available from www.sroaudiences.com.
