
BBC announces when Still Game will return
A tight 5: September 16
THE BBC has set an air date for the return of Still Game. Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill will be back as pensioners Jack Jarvis and Victor McDade on BBC One at 9.30pm on Friday October 7 in the first new episode in nine years. The Glasgow-set sitcom has been revived following its 21-date arena run in 2014.
FILMING has begun on The Trip To Spain. Rob Brydon revealed the news by tweeting a picture of himself and Steve Coogan in the sun with the caption: 'Here we go again...' Six episodes – covering Cantabria, the Basque region, Aragon, Rioja, Castile-La Mancha and Andalusia – are due to air on Sky Atlantic next year. ROMESH RANGANATHAN is to release his first DVD. His current tour, Irrational, is to be taped and released by Universal Pictures on November 21. Preorder.
STAND-UP and Moone Boy star Deirdre O'Kane and Mrs Brown's Boys star Rory Cowan are to provide the voiceover for the Irish version of Gogglebox, which launches on TV3 soon. But O'Kane admits: 'It will be hard to fill Caroline Aherne's shoes.'
TOBY FOSTER has been nominated fro one of the BBC's Frank Gillard Awards for local radio. The comedian, who runs Sheffield's Last Laugh club, is up for best breakfast show for his programme on BBC Radio Sheffield. Winners are announced in Newcastle on November 10.
