Surreal animated series for Adult Swim

Stephen Merchant is working on a new animated comedy series for American cable network Adult Swim.

The Extras co-creator is the executive producer of Dream Corp, LLC along with John Krasinski – best known as Jim Halpert in the US version of The Office.

The show is described as a surreal workplace comedy, and is set in a dream therapy facility run by the absent-minded Dr. Roberts, played by Jon Gries (Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite), and his team of scientists.

It will use an animation technique called rotoscoping, which involves tracing over live-action footage.

Allyson Seeger, Krasinski's producing partner, is also an executive producer on the show, Hollywood trade paper Variety reports.
