Piff to set Vegas alight...

Magic dragon's solo debut on the Strip

Piff The Magic Dragon is to make his solo debut on the Las Vegas Strip.

The deadpan comedy magician has landed an open-ended run at the Flamingo Las Vegas, across the road from Caesar’s Palace, on the back of his success in America’s Got Talent. He made the final of the talent show, eventually won by fellow Brit Paul Zerdin, and videos of his appearance attracted more than 30 million views online.

He said of the show: ‘My whole plan was not to win. There is nothing funny about winning. I should never be the winner. It’s not good on a character level.’

The Vegas run at in Bugsy’s Cabaret theatre will also feature his canine sidekick Mr Piffles, billed as the world’s only magic performing chihuahua.

Piff, real name John van der Put, has made his home in Vegas after appearing in the shows Vegas Nocturne – a Le Clique-style modern variety night –  and X Comedy Uncensored Fun, but this is his debut hour in the resort.

His run, which starts on November 9, also includes a festive show – Piff’s Piffmas Piff-Tacular –  running from December 21.

Meanwhile, the finale of America’s Got Talent will air on truTV UK at 8pm next Wednesday on Freeview channel 68, Sky 198 and FreeSat 154.
