A tight 5: August 11

ITV has dropped Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins' daytime chat show. Thirty episodes aired in January and February, but the broadcaster has now confirmed that the show will not be recommissioned.

NETFLIX has signed a deal for exclusive rights to the next film from This Is Spinal Tap director Christopher Guest. The comedy will be called Mascots and revolve around men and women who are battling for the top award at the 8th World Mascot Association championship, but little else is known about the movie.

EDINBURGH'S Gilded Balloon venue will be selling 20 per cent of their tickets tomorrow for £3 as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations, the same price as they were in 1986 when the venue opens. And admission will be free to Late’n’Live for anyone dressed in 1980s get-up. A few shows are excluded from the offer, and limited to two tickets per customer per show.

A SEQUEL to Beetlejuice is in the pipeline. Winona Ryder, who starred the cult 1998 comedy-horror film, told US talk show host Seth Meyers that director Tim Burton is woking on Beetlejuice 2.

REST STOP, a short film starring Horrible Histories' Ben Willbond, stand-up Lou Sanders and Canadian actress Cari Leslie has been named best comedy short at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. The short was developed through the LOCO London Comedy Film Festival and Sky TV.
