KURT COBAIN's comedy talents are to feature on a new album. A sketch he recorded, playing all the characters, will be included on a companion soundtrack to the new documentary about the Nirvana frontman, Montage Of Heck. The DVD and album, out in November, will also include 'audio montages' that Cobain recorded.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran are to receive a Living Legend Award from the British Comedy Society. The pair, who this year celebrate 35 years as professional TV comedy writers, with credits including The New Statesman, Goodnight Sweetheart and Shine On Harvey Moon, The will collect their award during an interview session at London's Leicester Square Theatre on September 13. RED DWARF may not be back on screens as early as March next year, creator Doug Naylor has stated. Yesterday star Chris Barrie was quoted in media – including Chortle – telling a fan convention that the comedy would be back on Dave by the spring. But Naylor says the actor was misquoted, adding: 'Edit [will have] hardly begun by then.'

BILL COSBY will be questioned under oath following legal action brought by a woman who accuses him of sexually abusing her in the Playboy Mansion in 1974, when she was 15. He will answer questions from Judy Huth's lawyer on 9 October, while she will give her deposition a week later. He denies the accusations, brought in a civil case.

COMEDY fans are being asked to vote on the finalist for the Magners New Comedy Act 2015. The competition comprises just two stages: a heat at the Bristol Comedy Garden last month and a final at the Greenwich Comedy Festival next. From the heat, George Rigden, Lolly Adefope and Ingrid Dahle were put through by judges – now votes are being sought here for three more finalists from the other competitors: Jake Lambert, Benji Waterstones, Elliot Steel, Chris Washington, Sophie Willan, Becky Brunning and Luke Smith. Winner gets £1,000.
