Rik Mayall's family face huge tax bill

...becuase he died without a will

Rik Mayall’s family could be facing a huge tax bill as he failed to leave a will.

The comedian left a £1.2 million estate when he died suddenly aged 56 last June.

But experts say his wife of 29 years, Barbara, and their three adult children could face a large inheritance tax bill as he died intestate.

Probate lawyer Andrew Kidd told Mayall online that Mayall’s children would be automatically entitled to a share of his net estate, meaning they could inherit an amount liable for inheritance tax.

Mrs Mayall declined to discuss the estate and the apparent lack of a will, telling reporters: ‘I haven’t heard anything from my lawyers yet.’
