New home for Leeds Jongleurs

A tight 5: February 26

JONGLEURS has found a new home in Leeds just days after Chortle reported that its existing venue was to close. The comedy club will be operating from the Tiger Tiger bar in the city after parent company Intertain decided to shut the Maluko beach-bar-themed club. The decision would have left Jongleurs homeless, but now it will move to Tiger Tiger from March 20, leaving no break in the shows.

ITV is in talks to snatch the British rights to Family Guy away from the BBC, according to trade magazine Broadcast. The animation currently airs on BBC Three, but producers Fox have not previously allowed the show to be streamed online amid piracy fears – a stance which will cause problems if the channel goes online only, as planned.

LUKE McGIBBON, 23, has won the fourth heat of the Chortle Studet Comedy Award, which has held in his home town of Belfast last night. Watch his set below. Tonight’s heat is at Southampton University.

THE sixth series of Community will be broadcast in the UK, with each episode airing 24 hours after its American transmission, Sony Entertainment Television starts airing the series in Britain on March 18 at 10.05pm. NBC has axed the show in the States, so the new series is only available online there, via Yahoo! Screen.

AMERICAN comedian Larry Daniels, who regularly appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in the Sixties and Seventies, has died at the age of 92. He had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and died at the Los Angeles Jewish Home.
