Arthur Mathews plans bailiffs sitcom

New project for Toast Of London writer

Arthur Mathews – the co-creator of Toast of London and Father Ted - is working on a new sitcom about bailiffs.

The show, Sheriffs, is said to be inspired by BBC One daytime show The Sheriffs Are Coming and is about 'well-intentioned' court enforcement officers.

He is working on a 30-minute pilot with Peter Bowden and Thom Phipps, whose Julian Assange-inspired comedy Asylum is to air on BBC Four next month.

It is being developed by BBC's in-house comedy unit, trade website broadcastnow reports today.
