Bizarre encounter captured on video

Comedian Adam Newman has been heckled by police officers – who told him to 'shut up' when they burst into his show to arrest an audience member.

Four cops came into the UCB Theater in New York this weekend causing a commotion among the audience.

When Newman addressed the situation, the NYPD officers told him: 'Shut the fuck up, right.'

Newman admits: 'That's the weirdest heckle I've ever got. I can put a heckler in his place, I can do that, but am I going to say "You shut the fuck up!" to police officers?'

Members of the audience suggested the arrested man may have been homeless and masturbating in the crowd. 'Well, I *am* very funny,' Newman quipped.

And the entire encounter was captured on camera – as the comic said he was trying to submit his stand-up set to the Conan O'Brien show.

Newman is Brooklyn-based comedian who has performed stand-up on The Late Show with David Letterman, John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show, and his own half hour special on Comedy Central.
