Talk show for Braunohler?

Comedy Central US orders pilot

Offbeat comedian Kurt Braunohler could become the next late-night talk show host on American TV.

Comedy Central has ordered a pilot of Gettin’ Some Strange with Kurt Braunohler, which would focus on the day’s weird news stories.

Braunohler will also be executive producer with Scotty Landes and the US arm of Britain’s Avalon Management, Hollywood website Deadline reports.

The comic – who has occasionally visited to the UK, sometimes with his friend Kirsten Schaal – formerly presented a web series, Roustabout, for Comedy Central.

The broadcaster is working on a new late-night schedule as it faces the imminent departure of Stephen Colbert, who will move to CBS to take over from David Letterman on the Late Show.

Meanwhile, James Corden has been tipped to follow Craig Ferguson in the Late Late Show which will follow Colbert – although the network has not confirmed the rumours, leading to speculation they may be getting cold feet about appointing a name relative unknown in the States.
