Bill Bailey plans sketch show

Full of TV and film parodies

Bill Bailey is working on a new TV sketch show parodying TV and film genres.

The stand-up revealed that the show would involve 'a lot of film spoofs; a lot of TV spoofs – things I've been doing in my stand-up shows for a number of years.'

No details are yet known about possible broadcasters or even the title, but Bailey spoke about the ideas on the red carpet at the premiere of How To Train Your Dragon 2 in London this week.

He told interviewer Kevin Durham: 'Every time I write a stand-up show , I'm always thinking "what TV, film spoof am I going to put into this?" and I started thinking, "hold on, hold on – I might as well just do a TV show, all these ideas are far more conducive to that".'

He said planned parodies include Scandi-crime dramas such as The Killing and 'absolutely insane' Japanese adverts, such as the one for fake product Skimbo which he made for his Qualmpeddler tour:

Bailey's previously had his own BBC Two sketch and stand-up show Is It Bill Bailey?, back in 1998.

Here he is talking about the new project:
