PEEP SHOW and Fresh Meat co-creator Jesse Armstrong is writing a Hollywood comedy about two hapless guards patrolling the US-Mexico border. Will Ferrell and his Talladega Nights co-star John C. Reilly are in talks to star in Border Guards, according to industry website Deadline. The plot has their characters stranded in Mexico without identification and having to sneak back into America.

RUSSIAN Roulette, a short film starring comedian Bec Hill and directed by Ben Aston has won the official selection award at Sundance London will now be screened as part of the festival’s official programme later this month. Here it is:

DETAILS of Mel Smith’s will have been published, revealing that he left more than £6.5 million in a trust. The bulk of his estate goes to his wife, Pam, who also inherited an £800,000 home in Barbados and property in the exclusive London neighbourhood of St. John's Wood. Smith died following a heart attack in July last year, at the age of 60.
