Tate Modern to host comedy show

Stand-up tour of landmark gallery

Tate Modern is to become a comedy venue.

American comics Dave Hill and Carl Arnheiter are to lead a comedy tour of the landmark London gallery on Saturday April 25, accompanied by Josie Long, John Kearns, Tom Meeten, Maeve Higgins and Norwegians Lars Berrum and Martin Beyer-Olson.

The free event is called Fancy Meeting You Here – and is based on a tour that ran for 18 months at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York

The team, with Harry Deansway in place of Long and Berey-Olson, will also be at the British Museum on April 24, where they have previously performed. Comedy duo The Gentlemen Of Leisure have hosted tours of the artefacts there, too.

Fancy Meeting You Here then goes on to Stockholm’s Moderna Museet on April 29; Oslo’s Norsk Folkemuseum on May 1 and Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum on May 4.

Visit the website for register for the tours.
